Overview

The programme aims to provide graduates with an ability to acquire and apply skills required for scientific and technological inquiry, for solving problem, communicating scientific ideas and result for working collaboratively in industry. Graduates also able to present professional competence in the field of industrial technology include handling and design instrumentations, industrial management, material testing and evaluation, material processing and manufacturing. Technology graduates with Bachelor of Sciences (Hons)- Industrial Technology will having abilities to construct knowledge and understanding of a concept in applied sciences, physical sciences and apply these understanding in interpret, integrate and extend their knowledge to pursue a lifelong learning with professional attitudes, good ethics and leadership qualities. After finishing their studies graduates may mostly work in industry.

Bachelor of Science (Hons.) Industrial Technology is a 3½ yr course, conducted in 7 long semesters and 3 short semesters and students need to accomplish 120 credit hours. After completing this degree program, students will be able to choose these career paths:

EXPECTED SALARY

Public Sector: Basic starting monthly salary is around RM1,650; plus allowances (such as housing and services) the total can amount to around RM2,300.

Private Sector: The amount of basic starting monthly salary can vary from the above amount. However, the total amount of monthly salary earned (inclusive of allowances) is subject to negotiation and which can be higher than that earned in the public sector

Program Learning Outcomes

At the end of this programme, students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of fundamental sciences and technology.
  • Practice advance expertise in industrial technology disciplines comprised of instrumentations, industrial management, material evaluation, design and manufacturing in industry.
  • Apply and integrate knowledge from four elements of industrial technology (structure, properties, processing and performance) to solve problems related to industrial needed.
  • Employ the industrial requirements based on established standards and current technology
  • Apply scientific and industrial technology principles, techniques, skills and advanced tools that are necessary for technical practice in industry
  • Demonstrate effectively as an individual, leader and team member
  • Develop the effective communication in written, oral presentation and discussion.
  • Pursue a life-long learning in order to meet global challenges.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and work ethics in their profession.

Program Educational Objectives

  • Prepare students with a solid foundation in basic mathematics, science and industrial technology fundamental knowledge.
  • Provide students with professional skills in industrial application including instrumentation, industrial management, operation, experimentation and knowledge discovery, system thinking, multidisciplinary teamwork and communications.
  • Train students with the knowledge and skill hands on, multi tasking and technically competent to identify and solving problems effectively in the industry. Also provide students with professional skills in knowledge seeking, system thinking, multidisciplinary teamwork and communication.
  • Provide students with an educational experience that motivates them to pursue life-long learning.

Entry Requirment

Local:

  • Pass STAM with a minimum grade of Jayyid; or
  • Pass Matriculation/Foundation/Diploma/Advanced Diploma from public or private higher education with minimum CGPA of 2.00; or
  • Pass Malaysian Diploma Vocational (MDV) from recognized institution by Malaysian Government and University Senate in any one (1) of the following fields:
  • Electrical Technology/ Electronic Technology/ Welding Technology/ Building Technology/ Machine Industry Technology/ Air Conditioning and Refrigerator Troubleshooting Technology/ Repair and Maintenance Electric Appliances; and
  • Pass Malaysia Vocational Certificate (MVC) equivalent with three (3) credit Malaysian Certificate Education for candidates obtained: Credit in Bahasa Melayu (SVM) code 1104; Minimum Academic CGPA of 2.00; Minimum Vocational CGPA of 2.67; and Competent all vocational module.
  • International students must obtain a score of 5.0 for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Band 3 for MUET or equivalent.

International:

  • International students are required to achieve a minimum score of 5.0 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) od Band 3 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) OR its equivalent.
  • Any related recognized equivalent qualification by Malaysian Government
