Overview
According to the National Centre for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), Bioinformatics is the field of science in which biology, computer science, and information technology merge to form a single discipline. Major activities in bioinformatics are to develop software tools for analyses of biological data and to generate useful biological knowledge. The students enrolled in this programme will gained knowledge in both field of information technology (IT) and biotechnology.

EXPECTED SALARY
Public Sector: Basic starting monthly salary is around RM1,800; plus allowances (such as housing) the total can amount to around RM2,500.
Private Sector: The amount of basic starting monthly salary can vary from the above amount. However, the total amount of monthly salary earned (inclusive of allowances) is subject to negotiation and which can be higher than that earned in the public sector.

Entry Requirment
Local:
- Foundation studies with minimum CGPA 2.00 from UNISEL or
- Matriculation from Education Ministry Malaysia or
- Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) or equivalent qualification with at least 2 principals or
- Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with Grade B in 5 relevant subjects including Biology and Chemistry or
- A recognized Diploma in science/ Computer Science/ Information Technology with minimum CGPA 2.00 from government institutes or private institutes that has obtained at least a minimum standard
International:
- International candidates must have a qualification equivalent to Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) or Diploma recognized by the Government of Malaysia, OR
- Equivalent qualifications recognized by the Government of Malaysia
- English Language Proficiency Requirement :-
- International students are required to achieve a minimum score of 5.0 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS), OR
- Band 3 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET)
