Overview

The Diploma of Civil Engineering program prepares students for highly competitive, national placement in civil engineering employment and graduate education by providing a thorough grounding in civil engineering science and design, together with a foundation in mathematics, basic sciences and life skills. This programme is aimed to prepare and produce engineering graduates qualified with proficiencies and experiences in civil engineering field and also to fulfill the current industrial demands.

In today’s workplace, employers are looking for individuals who possess the ability to anticipate and exceed their customer’s needs and deliver quality service as well as technical skills. Graduates of Civil Engineering are highly in demand in a wide variety of industries as well as the commercial sector.

The career prospects for holders of the Diploma in Civil Engineering include working as technicians/ engineering assistants/technical support staff in the following areas; Highway, Geotechnical, Water & Wastewater, Structural, research and development, maintenance, test and quality control.

Basic expected starting monthly salary is around RM1,300 – RM2,400.

The Engineering Department is committed to produce:
PLO1To apply comprehensive knowledge of fundamental engineering including mathematics and sciences.
PLO2To demonstrate basic knowledge in core engineering disciplines
PLO3To identify, formulate, analyze and solve core engineering problems
PLO4To apply design concepts in the engineering problems
PLO5To conduct experiment, handle engineering tools and interpret data necessary for engineering practices
PLO6To communicate effectively in written and oral form
PLO7To function and be productive in a team and apply entrepreneurship skills to meet global challenges
PLO8To be professional and ethical in their practice in serving towards environment and society
PLO9To recognize and possess the capability to embark on lifelong learning acquiring information and
seeking knowledge either formally or informally

Entry Requirment

Local: 

  • Passed Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / Sijil Pelajaran Vokasional (SPMV) with at least 3 credits including Mathematics and 1 other Sciences/Technical/Vokasional subject;
  • Passed Certificate in related field from PPT recognized by Malaysian Government with minimum CGPA 2.00;
  • Passed other qualification that organized by Malaysian Government.

International :

  • Secondary school or equivalent AND score 500 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) OR score 5.0 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) OR equivalent. If the student does not meet the criteria, the HEP must offer an English course to ensure the student’s proficiency in order to meet the program requirements. This is usually done through an assessment process.
