Overview
Diploma in Agrofood Technology, accredited by the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT). This Diploma in Agro-Based Technology (AF) has been carefully designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to ensure food security. The curriculum, which spans 2½ years for full-time students and 4½ years for part-time students, includes lectures, laboratory work, tutorials, industry projects and work-based learning (WBL), all delivered in Bahasa Kebangsaan and English. With a total of 92 credits, graduates will be well prepared to meet the challenges in sustainable agriculture, food safety and innovative food technologies and make an important contribution to global food security.

enabling graduates to apply for registration with the Malaysia Board of
Technologists (MBOT) as Graduate Technologists, enhancing professional

Approximately 24% of total credits are delivered through WBL, exceeding
the minimum national requirement. - High Practical Orientation
Technology components comprise ~67% practical and hands-on training,

Program Structure
The Diploma in Agrofood Technology comprises 92 credits over 2½ years full-time,
integrating both academic learning and Work-Based Learning (WBL) to produce
industry-ready graduates. The curriculum is divided into two main components
that focus many areas of study:
Technology Components (~64 credits)
- Includes Common Core, Discipline Core, Industry-Based Final Project, and
Industrial Training (12 weeks). - This component blends theoretical knowledge, practical lab work, and
applied industry exposure.
General Components (~28 credits) - Includes MPU courses and University compulsory courses.
- Provides foundational knowledge and supports the development of
transferable skills.

For clarity, the programme structure can be further categorized into three types
of learning experiences:
Courses with Embedded WBL - Courses that combine classroom or lab learning with industry-based
experience. - Contributes approximately 24% of total programme credits and develops
practical, workplace-ready skills.
Courses without WBL - Primarily academic or laboratory-based courses.
- Focuses on technical knowledge, practical lab skills, and preparation for
applied WBL and Industrial Training.
Industrial Training - Conducted full-time in the final semester for 12 weeks.
- Offers immersive professional experience in industry, supervised by both
industry mentors and university advisors. - Assessed through logbooks, performance evaluations, and technical
competency assessments.
Entry Requirements
Local student:
- To apply for the Diploma in Agrofood Technology, applicants must fulfil one of the following requirements:
- Certificate (MQF Level 3) with a minimum CGPA of 2.00
- SPM or equivalent with at least three (3) credits in any subject
- Pre-Diploma (at least one semester) with SPM or equivalent (minimum three (3) credits)
- STPM or equivalent with a Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in any subject
- STAM with a minimum Grade Maqbul
- APEL A as per MQA guidelines
- Other recognized qualifications
