Call for Papers & Participation – Selangor Techsphere Innovation Competition (STIC 2025)

Dear Researchers, Students, and Innovators,

We are delighted to invite you to participate in the Selangor Techsphere Innovation Competition (STIC 2025), which will be held on 11–12 November 2025. This prestigious event is open to researchers and students from higher education institutions, as well as industry professionals, particularly in the fields of Engineering and Life Sciences.

Competition Highlights:

  • Judging will be conducted through Poster Pitching presentations.
  • Participants are required to submit an Extended Abstract for the selection process.
  • Selected papers will be published in a Scopus-indexed publication, providing global visibility for your innovative work.

We welcome submissions showcasing cutting-edge research, breakthrough innovations, and impactful solutions that address current challenges in engineering and life sciences.

  • Extended Abstract Submission Deadline: 10th October 2025
  • Notification of Acceptance: 20th October 2025
  • Full Payment Deadline: 29th October 2025
  • Competition Date: 11 – 12 November 2025

Poster Requirements

  1. Eligibility
    • Open to participants from Institutions of Higher Learning (IPT) and Industry
    • Limited places available. Submission does not guarantee acceptance. A letter of acceptance will be sent to successful applicants
  2. Participation Format
    • Each team may have a maximum of eight members including one leader and one advisor (if any)
    • The competition will be conducted physically at the event venue (no online participation)
    • Accepted participants must print and bring their poster to the venue for display and judging
  3. Poster Submission
    • Format: PNG file for initial submission
    • Size: A1, portrait orientation
    • Language: English only
    • All posters must be proofread before submission

  4. Extended Abstract
    • Length: 4–5 pages describing the innovative project
    • Figures or tables must not exceed 50 percent of the essay
    • Must follow the template provided by the organiser
    • Submission of extended abstract is compulsory
    • All abstracts must be proofread before submission
  5. Guidelines for Extended Abstract
      • Authors are requested to submit an extended abstract with three (3) pages minima and not exceeding five (5) pages in English.
      • An extended abstract is meant to give judges/reviewers enough detail to evaluate the innovation without needing the full paper.
      • The extended abstract must include the title, author(s) introduction, material and methods, results and discussion, conclusion and references.
      • The extended abstract should be prepared on an A4-sized paper with 25 mm margins on all sides and typed with single spacing using size 11 Times New Roman font.
      • All illustrations must be prepared inside of the main text.
      • The final draft of the extended abstract should be submitted in Microsoft Word document.

  6. Submission and Confirmation
    • All submissions must be received before the stated deadline
    • Letter of acceptance will be issued for successful entries

Poster Appearance and Organization 

  1. Use of colours and fonts enhances readability 
  2. Logical flow and easy to follow 
  3. Effective use of space with adequate empty areas 
  4. Attractive, balanced and eye-catching design 

Content of the Research Poster 

  • Clear background, problem and objectives 
  • Methods and approach are well explained 
  • Results and conclusions align with objectives 
  • Clarity of language, grammar and presentation 
  • Overall coherence, significance and effective use of visuals 

Innovation 

  • Novelty of research or project with Intellectual Property registration 
  • Potential benefits and applicability to society, environment, economy or country 
  • Readiness for commercialization, collaboration or real-world impact 
  • All submitted papers will undergo rigorous peer review and will be published in the event Proceedings.
  • All Gold Award Winners’ papers shall be published in Scopus-indexed Journal.
